Shades of Music
Shades of Music are a group college age young adults, who are the off springs of some of the most talented and gifted musicians and singers in the St. Louis Metropolitan Area.
They all come from Christian homes and have been reared in the church. The group was founded by Toni Towns and is managed by C-Note Entertainment.
The group was originally formed to raise funds for the Richard “Ricky” Towns Scholarship Fund, housed at Harris-Stowe State University, an HBCU in St. Louis. The scholarship is a yearly award given to students at Harris-Stowe that major in area of the Arts. Since its inception, Shades of Music has continued to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through song, with an eclectic blend of Gospel, Choral, Spirituals and Anthems performed both vocally and instrumentally.
They have appeared collectively and individually in various concerts, productions and was recently asked to perform for the State of Missouri’s Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday kick-off celebration.
Some of the colleges and universities represented in the group include, Fisk University, St. Charles Community College, Greenville University, Southeast Missouri State University, University of Missouri at Kansas City, Columbia College, Culver Stockton College, Belleville Area Community College and Morehouse College.
Most of the singers and musicians of Shades have music associated with their collegiate studies and are continuing to develop their musical gifts and talents every day.
